Last October 17-22, National Chi Alpha conducted two district Chi Alpha Leaders Training (XALT) in Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay and Cebu City. The first training was held from October 17-19 in Southwestern Mindanao District Council (SWMDC). The training was held in Pentecostal Assembly of God in Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay, the church of SWMDC’s district youth director and host Rev. Rick Ibanez. There were over 40 students and pastors who attended the training. We conducted three levels of training. Ptra. Afel Concon, our newly installed Mindanao Regional XA Coordinator, taught the Level 1 or Students Track. Ptra. Merla Laanan, taught Level 2 or the Disciplers Track, and Ptr. Patrick taught Level 3 or the Mobilizers Track. The training received positive response and enthusiasm from the delegates youth and pastors alike. One of the highlights of the training was on Day 3 when we visited Mindanao State University Buug Campus which was a few meters away from the venue. It was in MSU where we held our prayerwalking and evangelism practicum. National Chi Alpha was also able to meet a number of Christian professors and school admin whom we had a privilege to pray for and with. Our prayer was that God will raise up a movement of multiplying disciples among students in this campus and among the campuses and students of SWMDC.

Another praise report is that during the training we were joined by a sister from the neighboring district NWMDC (Northwestern) who gladly shared to us that there is an existing but undocumented Chi Alpha movement in Oroquieta City. That night we were able to connect with Ptr. Rey Maglangit, the pastor handling XA Oroquieta through Facebook!

Early morning of October 20 we bade goodbye to new found friends and took a two 3-hour bus rides from Buug to Pagadian City, then Pagadian City to Ozamis City where we caught our flight to our next destination–Cebu City. From October 20-22 the Cebu City training was held in Immanuel Bible College hosted by the district youth department of Central Visayas Lower Leyte District Council headed by Rev. Neil Fajardo. We conducted Level 2 and 3 trainings which were attended by IBC Students and youth ministry workers from Christ Forever Glorified Assembly of God, who was already desiring to penetrate a university in the city, and was looking for this kind of training! Truly it was a divine appointment. Just like every Chi Alpha Leaders Training we visited a campus in the city for our prayerwalking practicum this time in University of Cebu in Downtown Colon. We left the city with high hopes that a Chi Alpha movement will be birthed as we have planted the seed of the vision of a student movement of multiplying disciples in the city.
During these trainings the district youth departments of SWMDC and CVLLDC have appointed there own District Chi Alpha coordinator (DXA) through the persons of Ptra. Rowena Osabel for SWMDC and Ptr. John Clifford Abad for CVLLDC.
Praise God for the success of these two district trainings. Thank you for praying for and with us as we continue to train and empower our churches and young people to reach students and campuses for the King of Kings!
