Every student, a missionary. As a student, you are not just in school to study, but God has placed you there to become His missionary—a Student Missionary. You are called Christ’s ambassadors to reconcile others to Christ (2 Co 5:20), to lead them from darkness into the Light–Jesus Christ, the Light of the world:
“I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” – John 8:12
When we follow Jesus, we won’t have to walk in the dark anymore. That means, we no longer live in this world clueless. Through Jesus, we find truth, purpose and live a meaningful life that honors Him. We ourselves bear His image in us. We become reflectors of this light for others to also find Jesus!
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” – Matthew 5:14-16
Every Student Missionary must commit to become a light to their friends, classmates and other people. In Chi Alpha, we live this out by committing to the Five L.I.G.H.T. Commitments. These are commitments you can do to become a light the campus.
- L – Lift your classmates and campus in prayer
- I – Introduce Christ to your friends and classmates
- G – Guide your friends to grow in Christ
- H – Host a student discipleship group (D-Group)
- T – Transform your D-group into a movement of multiplying disciples
